French imports are more than just Camembert and the "nouvelle vague"; Rhodia's North American operations bring the specialty chemicals business of its French parent Rhodia over to the US. The company manufactures an array of chemicals, from surfactants and raw materials for cosmetics to pharmaceutical ingredients and rare earth materials. Rhodia's North American operations also include the manufacture of agricultural chemicals, silicas, silicones, and engineering plastics. Rhodia has operations throughout the US, as well as in Canada. It provides more than 15% of its parent's total sales.

The company, formerly known as North American Fire Guardian Technologies Inc., was incorporated in 1987 and is based in Henderson, Nevada.

Rodda Paint, one of the largest paint manufacturers in the Pacific Northwest, makes paints and other coatings that it sells in its 45 stores located throughout Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Rust-Oleum has been fighting the spread of iron oxide for more than 80 years. The company makes paints and similar coatings that resist moisture and corrosion. Designed for materials that are exposed to the elements, including light fixtures, patio furniture, wheelbarrows, mailboxes, and window trim, Rust-Oleum products come in multiple colors and textures. It also makes paints for indoor furniture, epoxies for garage floors and truck beds, and oil finishes for wood. Originally founded in 1921 by a Scottish-born sea captain named Robert Fergusson who discovered fish oil prevented rust, Rust-Oleum is now a subsidiary of chemicals and consumer products heavyweight RPM International.
