The Advertising Council, Inc.
The Advertising Council carries out pro bono ad campaigns on behalf of both government and private organizations. Using public service announcements, the not-for-profit organization conducts about 50 campaigns each year aimed at areas such as children's issues, health, community, the environment, and family. The Advertising Council relies on volunteer efforts from advertising firms and receives about $2 billion in donated ad time and space annually. Founded in 1942 as the War Advertising Council, the organization's success in promoting war bonds led President Franklin Roosevelt to ask it to continue applying its efforts to social issues.
