Operating through subsidiaries United Auto Credit Corporation (UACC) and United Auto Business Operations (UABO), the specialty finance firm originates, buys, and services auto loan contracts for high-risk customers. Its loans are used to finance such business-related functions as acquisitions, franchises, and real estate. The company operates through nearly 50 UPS Capital offices in the US and through international locations and representative agents in emerging markets. Formerly known as First International Bank, the company was bought by shipping giant United Parcel Service in 2001.

Value Financial Services gives customers bucks for their bling. Founded in 1994 by former CEO John Thedford, the company runs about 70 pawn shops in Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, and Tennessee, operating as Value Pawn and Jewelry and Check Jewelry & Loan. It makes non-recourse loans secured by customers personal items, including jewelry, electronics, and musical instruments. The average amount of the company's pawn loans is about $150; its pawn service charges range from about 188% to 300% annually. At the end of 2008 Texas-based EZCORP acquired the company after initial talks had fallen through.

Its average loan is less than $400,000. It currently holds mortgages for more than 300 properties, 30% of which are in California. Its loan portfolio includes multi-family housing, retail space, mixed-use developments, warehouses, offices, industrial complexes, restaurants, and mobile home parks. Velocity Commercial Capital does not make construction loans or lend for undeveloped land. The company, which filed to go public in 2010, intends to qualify as a real estate investment trust (REIT).

Venture Finance, a unit of ABN AMRO, provides business financing through asset-based lending, invoice discounting, and factoring. Venture Finance focuses on small to midsized companies throughout the UK. The firm also has a structured finance unit, which focuses on refinancing, turnaround, management buyouts, and other transactions for midsized firms. Venture Finance, which was founded in 1989, has about a dozen offices throughout the UK.
