World Vision International
World Vision International (WVI) sees a world where all children are fed, sheltered, educated, valued, and loved. The Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization aims to help communities around the globe in areas such as education, health care, and economic development; World Vision International also participates in emergency relief efforts. WVI operates in about 100 countries from some 40 offices worldwide. Projects in Africa account for about 40% of the group's spending; the Asia/Pacific region accounts for about 20%. WVI's private donors sponsor some 3 million children. The group receives its contributions -- both cash and gifts-in-kind -- mainly from private sources. WVI was founded in 1950 by the Rev. Bob Pierce.
