Telecom regulator Trai today slashed international incoming call termination rate to 30 paise, from 53 paise, to curb the "grey route", an official statement today said.

The new rate will be effective from February 1.

Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has emerged as the lowest bidder for a project tendered by NTPC related to flue gas de-sulphurisation (FGD) works for its 1,500 MW (3 x 500 MW) power plant in Jhajjar, Haryana. According to sources, RInfra is the lowest bidder with the order value of the project being expected to be around Rs 567 crore. A spokesperson for RInfra declined to comment on the development, saying the company has lodged bids for EPC projects across various sub-segments within the infrastructure domain.

Keen on mobilising funds to accelerate the pace of highway construction, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will tap the capital market in early FY19 through a few subsidiaries that would be created. Being an authority, it cannot have an initial public offer (IPO) on its own.

NEW DELHI: The telecom regulator may reduce the international termination rate (ITR) -- a charge paid by international operators to local networks that receive calls --by almost half from the current rate of 53 paise a minute, a move that would deal a body blow to India's top telcos Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular which receive bulk of the international calls on their network.
