NEW DELHI: Taking a step ahead in domestic manufacturing of solar equipment, the government has floated a document to gauge the market's interest in setting up 20 GW solar PV manufacturing facility in India in a span of three years.
Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has floated an expression of interest (EoI) document, evincing interest to "invite bids for allocation of project capacities, from prospective solar manufacturers who are willing to set up vertically integrated solar PV module manufacturing facility in India, including ingots, wafers, cells, and modules."
MNRE recently announced its roadmap for achieving 175 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2022, which would require setting up of solar power plants of 77 GW capacity by 2020, entailing an investment of Rs 3,50,000 crore.Other Latest News

E-commerce company Meesho has confidentially filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to launch an initial public offering (IPO), Reuters reported on Thursday.
The SoftBank-backed firm plans to raise $497.30 million (₹4,250 cr) through the listing, the report added. Some existing investors are also expected to pare their stakes as part of the offer.

In a setback to Apple’s India expansion plans, Foxconn Technology Group has been sending hundreds of its Chinese engineers and technicians back home from its iPhone factories in India, it is learnt. This is likely to affect the Cupertino major’s production plans of iPhone 17, expected to be unveiled in mid-September.
This comes at a time when the Taiwanese contract manufacturer — Apple’s largest — is expanding its capacity in India.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday passed an interim order directing Patanjali Ayurved to take down advertisements that allegedly disparage Dabur's chyawanprash products, Bar and Bench reported. This came in response to a suit filed by Dabur India Ltd in December 2024, accusing Patanjali Ayurved of making misleading claims about its flagship Ayurvedic product.
Justice Mini Pushkarna issued the order after finding that the contested advertisements were problematic under the law governing commercial speech and product representation

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress during a party membership drive in Ahmedabad, alleging that the two major national parties are secretly working in tandem.

A 30-year-old Infosys employee was arrested for allegedly filming a female colleague inside the women’s washroom at the company’s Electronic City office in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The incident, which took place on Monday morning, came to light after the woman raised an alarm, news agency PTI reported.
The accused has been identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali, a senior associate consultant at Infosys and a native of Sangli, Maharashtra.
