US carmaker Ford will recall 42,300 units of hatchback Figo and compact sedan Figo Aspire in India to fix a software glitch that could lead to malfunctioning of airbags during a collision.

Ford India is issuing a voluntary safety recall for the two models built at the Sanand plant since the launch until April 12, the company said.

Automaker Ford India on Tuesday opened a technical training facility in the northern region at Manesar to create a pool of trained and talented technicians.

Established in partnership with Technical Training Inc, the facility is spread over 18,000-sq-ft and will provide training to over 13,500 training days per year, Ford India said in a statement.

Mahindra & Mahindra, country's largest utility vehicle manufacturer, today launched the Nuvosport, a multi-seater UV which is a redesigned Quanto. The vehicle is priced at Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane).

The vehicle is less than 4 meters in length and will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and KUV100.

Ford India sold 21,198 vehicles (domestic 7,560 units, exports 13,638 units) in March 2016, up form 15,775 vehicles (domestic 5,253 units, exports 10,522 units) sold in March 2015 which is 5,423 units more than the previous sales, the auto company said in a statement.

On the other hand, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said it sold a total of 9,007 vehicles in March, down from 14,325 units sold in March 2015.

New Delhi: Ford India Pvt. Ltd on Friday said that it has cut prices of its best-selling model EcoSport by up to Rs.1.12 lakh.

The move is prompted by introduction of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd’s Vitara Brezza that will take on the EcoSport in the small sports utility vehicle segment.

Ford India, the seventh largest player in the domestic passenger vehicle market, has emerged as the largest exporter in the month of February. The company shipped more cars than Hyundai and Maruti, the two top exporters in the April-February period.

With its low single-digit growth and expanded capacity following the commencement of Gujarat plant last year, exports have become critical for Ford. The American car maker shipped 11,823 vehicles to more than 50 destinations last month.

At last, at last, at last. Ford is finally adopting Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto for its in-car infotainment system, so the carmaker announced ahead of the CES event in Las Vegas this week.

We reviewed Ford Sync 3, the third iteration of the company’s connected car technology, last year, and that system will soon include support for both Google and Apple’s in-car platforms. Ford revealed that all 2017 vehicles equipped will Sync 3 will gain the support, while its 2016 Sync 3 vehicles will get an upgrade option later this year. That means iPhone owners can access Siri, Apple Maps and more, while those with Android Auto compatible devices get the Google services suit.

Google and Ford will announce a new autonomous vehicle joint venture at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, says a report in Yahoo Autos. If it goes through, the partnership would represent a significant collaboration between two of the biggest names in the tech and automotive industries.

A Google spokesperson said the company had no comment. TechCrunch has also contacted Ford.
