Jackson Energy Authority is a public utility created under a private act passed by the Tennessee Legislature. Our assets and operations are paid for through utility rates, not tax money. A five-member Board of Directors, appointed by Jackson’s Mayor and City Council, governs Jackson Energy Authority.Jackson Energy Authority is one of few public utilities in the United States offering customers all major utility services from one company. We provide reliable electric, gas, propane, water, wastewater, and broadband services. We serve about 40,000 residences, businesses and industry in Jackson, TN and parts of Madison County. We also supply propane to customers not on our natural gas system.

JEA owns and operates an electric system with three generating plants and a fourth in the planning stages, and all transmission and distribution facilities including approximately 730 miles of transmission lines and 6,000 miles of distribution lines. JEA is also a joint owner with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) in a third power plant, the St. Johns River Power Park (SJRPP), operated by JEA. SJRPP has a work force of over 350 employees and consists of two 624 net megawatt coal/petroleum coke-fired generating units. In addition, JEA is a joint owner with FPL of Unit 4 at Georgia Power Company’s coal-fired Plant Scherer. JEA owns a 200 net megawatt share of Unit 4. Finally, JEA produces 3.2 megawatts from a methane-fueled generating facility at the Girvin Road Landfill and 9.6 MW from Trail Ridge Landfill. A 12.6 MW solar project is coming online in 2010. JEA’s total generating capacity is approximately 3,050 megawatts.JEA's newest generating facility is Brandy Branch, located in west Jacksonville, home to three 170 megawatt combustion turbine units. These units are capable of operating on both natural gas and diesel fuel. Units1 and 2 went into commercial operation May 31, 2001, followed by Unit 3 on October 12, 2001.

Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (KEPCo), headquartered at Topeka, Kansas, was incorporated in 1975 as a not-for-profit generation and transmission (G & T) cooperative. It is KEPCo's responsibility to procure an adequate and reliable power supply for its 19 distribution rural electric cooperative Members at a reasonable cost. Through their combined resources, KEPCo Members support a wide range of other services such as rural economic development, marketing and diversification opportunities, power requirement and engineering studies, and rate design, among others.KEPCo is governed by a Board of Trustees representing each of its 19 Members which collectively serve more than 110,000 electric meters in the eastern two-thirds of rural Kansas (see map). The KEPCo Board of Trustees meets regularly to establish policies and act on issues that often include recommendations from working committees of the Board and KEPCo staff.

Electric distribution cooperative Kenergy serves about 55,000 customers in 14 counties (Breckinridge, Caldwell, Crittenden, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union and Webster) in Western Kentucky. Kenergy serves its customer base of households, commercial enterprises, and industries via more than 6,700 miles of power lines. The customer-owned company is part of Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, a national alliance of more than 600 local, consumer-owned electric utility cooperatives.

Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) is committed to redoubling efforts to serve this Florida city with three double letters in its name. KUA operates the municipal power distribution system serving 62,000 commercial and industrial, and residential customers in Kissimmee and surrounding areas. It also offers its customers internet, telephone, and security services. In addition, the community-owned utility has stakes in some power generation units. The century-old company is used to managing operations in a hurricane prone area. In 2009 the company piloted a 4-day working week option for its employees as a way to bring down costs.
