Metropolitan Transportation Authority
The MTA's New York City Transit Authority runs a fleet of some 6,300 buses in New York's five boroughs, and with about 8,700 rail and subway cars, it provides subway service to all but Staten Island and operates the Staten Island Railway. Other MTA units offer bus and rail service to Connecticut and Long Island and maintain the Triborough system of toll bridges and tunnels. No Sigma Chi or Chi Omega chapter has anything on New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) -- it rushes millions of people every day. The largest public transportation system in the US, the government-owned MTA provides about 2.6 billion passenger trips and about 300 million vehicles travel the MTA system annually.
