Snokist Growers Co-Op

Snokist Growers Co-Op

In 1903, the Yakima Valley was already established as a premiere growing region for many fruits and vegetables, but the system of getting the crops to market was outdated. At the time, truckers traveled from farm to farm negotiating with individual farmers to set a price for their fruit. The farmers knew they needed a better system so they banded together to form the Yakima County Horticultural Union and Yakima Valley Growers Association cooperatives. These groups centralized packing, selling and distribution of the crops and opened channels for shipping to markets such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and beyond. In 1965 the two cooperatives merged together and took on the name Snokist Growers.

Today, Snokist is still a grower-owned cooperative with more than 150 active members. Our growers range from multi-generation family farms that are steeped in tradition to young, innovative farmers setting a new standard in agriculture with organic production and integrated pest management. We employ more than 700 people to provide food products for retail, food service and industrial use customers. The Snokist cannery packs in a variety of containers from cans, glass and totes to single serve bowls and cups. We've joined forces with Pacific Coast Producers to give our customers a one-stop shopping choice for the majority of products you find in the grocery fruit aisle, including apples, apricots, cherries, peaches, pears, prunes and fruit cocktail.
