Sightsavers International
Sightsavers International, also known as The Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind, is a charitable organization that works to aid people living in poverty around the world who suffer from cataracts, childhood blindness, glaucoma, river blindness, and trachoma. While financial and logistical support of eye operations is a focus of Sightsavers, the organization also takes on educational, preventative, and rehabilitative initiatives. Sightsavers International was founded by Sir John Wilson in 1950, and Queen Elizabeth is patron of the organization. Sightsavers International has regional offices in Ghana, India, Ireland, Kenya, and the US.
