National Urban League doesn't care if you live in the city or the country. If you are African American, National Urban League, Inc. wants to empower you to get into the economic and social mainstream. Through more than 100 affiliates in 36 states and the District of Columbia, the Urban League offers reading and scholarship programs, job and financial literacy training, health information, voter education and registration, and civil rights programs. Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) fights for those who can't. It's a 1.2-million member environmental action organization dedicated to preserving wildlife and the wilderness. Among the issues the NRDC addresses are curbing global warming, creating a future of clean energy, reviving the world's oceans, saving endangered wildlife and wild places, stemming the tide of toxic chemicals, and accelerating the greening of China. Natural Resources Defense Council conducts its work from its New York headquarters and regional offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. Natural Resources Defense Council also publishes Nature's Voice, a bulletin on environmental campaigns; OnEarth, its quarterly magazine; and periodic NRDC Reports on specific issues.

Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (dba NeighborWorks America) wants to be your neighbor. The not-for-profit organization supports more than 230 independent local organizations in suburban, urban, and rural communities across the country. Programs include building multi-family dwellings and helping low and middle income families with financing and insurance as well as job creation, community facilities, and economic development in rural areas. Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation also offers training for community leaders and would-be homeowners on community planning, green building, and financing among others. Established by Congress in 1978, NeighborWorks is funded by Congress, private donations, and corporate support.
