Lance Armstrong Foundation, Inc.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) helps people win the battle against cancer. Founded by seven-time Tour de France cycling champion Lance Armstrong during his own cancer treatment in 1997, the LAF assists cancer patients and their loved ones with the physical, psychological, and social aspects of living with and recovering from the disease. The foundation focuses on education, community programs, national advocacy, and scientific and clinical research. Also, its Peloton Project raises funds and awareness for the LAF with the help of volunteers, cyclists, and cancer survivors in their local communities. In 2009 the LAF is taking its fight against cancer global with the Livestrong Global Cancer Campaign.
Lance Armstrong's victories in the 1999-2005 Tours de France are awe-inspiring, but the battle against cancer has just begun-not just for him, but for all cancer survivors and people just like him who think cancer could not affect them. He plans to lead this fight, and he hopes that you join him. This is a life he owes to cancer. This is his choice to live strong.
