I) Agro-Food processing Industry
a) Agri- Export Zones
The Agri-export zones act as an apt gateway to explore
the potential in the International market. These zones
look at specialised functions such as identifying
the right sourcing for raw materials, specific produce/product
development, Product processing/packaging, leading
to the final export by integrating an end-to-end approach.
The State of Andhra Pradesh has identified five Agri
export zones in different districts with specific
produce. The Chittoor AEZ envisages a total investment
of Rs. 91.4 crores by private entrepreneurs, Government
of Andhra Pradesh and the Government of India. The
other AEZs are being developed jointly by the State
and Central Governments with an investment of Rs.95.15
crores.
b) Food parks
Food Parks in three main regions of the state namely
Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema.are proposed to
be set up catering to specific processing lines namely:
- Telangana Food Park: The park looks at the processing
of poultry products/ processing of coarse grain
& millets/ spices (Chillies & turmeric)
- Coastal Andhra Food Park : The park focussed on
value added rice products/ dairy products/ horticultural
products/ marine products/ labour oriented, export
oriented industry.
- Rayalaseema Food Park : The park focussed on the
processing of vegetables onion, tomatoes/ fruits/
spices, etc.
II) Biotechnology
Biotech Parks
a) Genome Valley
The State government has declared an area of 600
square kilometres covering Shameerpet, Medchal, Keesra
and Uppal mandals in Ranga Reddy district as the Genome
Valley in which biotech activities will be encouraged
and promoted.
b) ICICI Knowledge Park
The State government in collaboration with the Industrial
Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI)
Limited, has set up a Knowledge park near Hyderabad.
The ICICI Knowledge Park with an area of 200-acres
provides organizations with ready-to-occupy research
and development laboratories. The park also provides
infrastructure to small and medium scale enterprises
at affordable prices. The ICICI Knowledge Park is
also proposed house a Biotech Knowledge Centre. A
Biotechnology Park is being set up adjacent to the
existing ICICI Knowledge Park. This 160-acres park
will help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to set
up their manufacturing units
C) Agri Biotech Park at ICRISAT
In order to set up an Agri Biotech Park at ICRISAT
an area of 200 acres has been earmarked. An MOU has
been signed between the Secretary to Government of
Andhra Pradesh (I & C Dept.) and Director General,
ICRISAT. A firm called AQUAS has already started functioning
for the establishment of the Park.
d) Marine Biotech Park, Visakhapatnam
With a view to set up the Marine Biotech Park at
Visakhapatnam around 218 acres of well-developed land
has been allocated. Two firms - Biogenus and Celgen
- have already been allotted the required land. Many
more companies are showing interest to take up ventures
in the Marine Biotech Park.

III) Information Technology
Information Technology Parks
a) Rajiv Gandhi Nanotech Park
The Rajiv Gandhi Nanotech Park is proposed at an
investment of US$ 1.6 billion and a production capacity
of 30,000 wafers per month. The commercial production
is expected to start in early 2007. This park will
attract end-product manufacturing companies and shall
provide direct employment to 10,000 people facilitating
250 industries. It is expected to manufacture logic
chips for cell phones, Automotive Ics, Microprocessor
Cores and RF power devices.
b) RMZ Futura
The park spread over an area of 5.24 acres consists
of 350,000 Sq ft of built up space. Currently its
occupants include Deloitte and Google.
c) Mindspace Cyberabad
The park comprises a total of 3million Sq ft of built-up
space on 110 acres. It also offers facilities for
leisure and entertainment.
d) Vanenburg IT Park
The park comprises a total of 850,000 Sq ft of built
up space. It occupants include Motorola, CA and CTs.
IV) Textile and Leather
Leather Industrial Parks
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is setting up the
following infrastructure parks for the promotion and
the development of leather industry.
- A 72 Mini leather Industrial park of 25 acres each
for processing quality raw material.
- 16 medium leather Industrial parks of 100 acres
each for processing semi-finished leather to finished
leather.
- 6 Mega leather industrial parks of 300 acres each
for conversion of all intermediate products to export
quality.

Mega Park, Gangadhar Nellore, Chittoor
The proposed park is located at Gangadhar, Nellore.
About 11 kms from Chittoor town and 30 Kms from Ranipet.,
developed over 300 acres of land . It has been set up
especially for non-polluting industries especially for
the exporters of leather goods / articles to set up
their prestigious units. The park has been set up through
the public private partnership initiative.
International Leather Complex, Nellore
The complex is a part of the government of India project
being set up on 500 acres of land under the supervision
of LIDCAP. The complex proposes to suit the requirements
of the tanning and footwear units of International standards.
Leather Export Park, Hyderabad
This park is ideally located in the heart of Hyderabad
and is well connected by road, rail and air. It is well
equipped with the state-of-art infrastructure and modern
imported footwear machinery to manufacture all types
of leather footwear and articles.
Investment and Industrial Policies
Industrial Policy (2005-2010)
The Industrial Policy of Andhra Pradesh has been formulated
with a view to drive industrial growth in the state
by attracting private investments with specific measures
to improve the investment climate towards better regulation
by removing barriers to competition.

Biotechnology Policy (2001)
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has accorded a strong
thrust on the Biotechnology sector. The policy on Biotech
aims to facilitate the development of biotechnology
in the State by creating high quality infrastructure
through the strategy of setting up specialized Biotech
Parks in different parts of the State, encouraging research
activities, developing human resources and establishing
links between research institutions, academia and industry.
The State Government aims to create a hassle-free environment
for the biotech industry through simplification of procedures
and a single window clearance mechanism.

Information and Communication Technology Policy
(2005-2010)
The Government of Andhra Pradesh introduced the ICT
policy with a view to transform the state into a knowledge
society and make available the benefits of information
technology to all citizens, especially those in rural
areas. The State aims to leverage ICT for achieving
an Info-age (inclusive, networked, fast, open, accountable,
globally benchmarked and efficient) government.

Infrastructure Policy
The Government of Andhra Pradesh with a view to undertake
mega projects to attract industries and the overall
development of the state has constituted a High Level
Task Force and identified 31 Mega Infrastructure Projects
for immediate implementation with the private sector
participation.
The Infrastructure sectors covered by the policy are
Power generation, Transmission and Distribution projects,
Roads ( Govt Highways, Major Road Districts, Other District
Roads, Village Roads, ), Bridges and Bypasses, Minor
Ports and Harbours, Airports and Heliports, Gas and
Gas Works, Inland Containers and Logistics Hubs.

Ports Policy
Andhra Pradesh was amongst the first maritime states
in 1994-95 to recognise the imperative need for increased
port infrastructure and the central role that the private
sector would be required to play in developing the same.
The port privatisation in Andhra Pradesh has been based
on Build-Operate-Share-Transfer basis.
