Facebook to spend $1 billion on a building that will not have many employees
The Commonwealth of Virgina on Thursday announced that the social networking giant Facebook would invest $1 billion to build a new facility in the US state. The bulding that will be built will be of a data center, which will require almost no person to operate, mashable.com said. According to the website, plenty of money spent on construction of the building, with only about 100 employees working in it.
Data centres are key to success of the company, but they need almost no people, which is a case with chnging technology these days. Less number of employees amd more machines means more profit for the company, mashable.com added. Even though with only few jobs, states , eager for investements, are coming into agreements with them.
Meanwhile, in what could be a great step identify stories to read, share and trust on their News Feed, the company is working on a button which users can click to check information about where the stories came from. The news article will be pulled from Facebook and other sources to check fake news, IANS said.
Apart from this, the other sources are information from the publisher’s Wikipedia entry, a button to follow their Page, articles that are trending or related articles about information on how the article is being shared by people on Facebook, the company had said in a blog post.
“In some cases, if that information is unavailable, we will let people know, which can also be helpful context,” the Facebook blog post said as per IANS.
