State-owned NTPC has urged the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to appoint it a consultant for 1,000 MW of rooftop solar projects the latter plans to implement across several countries. NTPC proposes to charge 6-10% of the project cost as upfront consultancy fees, depending on the capacities of the solar installations.

State-owned power generator NTPC gained from improved coal supply to its power plants in the pre-election season, as it was able to reduce its traditional under-recoveries stemming from fuel shortages. The company’s fixed cost under-recoveries, which increases with fuel-related uncertainties, were at Rs 800 crore in FY19, 43% lower than FY18, as it received more fuel from Coal India and increased production from its own captive mines.

New Delhi: State-run power giant NTPC on Saturday posted a 48.7 per cent jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 4,350.32 crore for the March quarter compared to the year-ago period mainly on the back of lower expenses.

The company's standalone net profit in January-March 2018 was Rs 2,925.59 crore, an NTPC statement said.

Insolvent DC Industrial Plant Services (DCIPS) has been given a window in getting handed over as a going concern with West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) and NTPC continuing to renew its old contract beyond the stipulated time frame. DCIPS, already a negative networth company, cannot participate in fresh tenders, since it would not match the financial criteria that an open tender would demand.

New Delhi: State-owned power giant NTPC on Tuesday said it will raise Rs3,056.50 crore on Friday through issuance of bonds on a private placement basis.

"NTPC has decided to raise ₹3,056.50 crore on 3 May 2019, (Friday) through private placement of secured non-convertible bonds in the nature of debentures at a coupon of 7.93% per annum with a door-to-door maturity of three years," the company said in a statement.

Fitch Ratings Friday said that it has assigned BBB-(EXP), an investment grade rating, to NTPC’s proposed senior unsecured notes.

The proposed notes are to be issued out of the company’s USD 6 billion medium-term note programme and are rated at the same level as the NTPC’s senior unsecured rating, as they will constitute its direct, unconditional, unsubordinated and unsecured obligations, a Fitch Ratings statement said.

State-owned power producer NTPC Tuesday said its 200 kilo watt (kW) waste-to-energy plant in Karsada has achieved full generation capacity.

The plant is located in Karsada at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP).”Karsada plant has been able to achieve full load generation. Set up with an installed capacity of 200 kW, the thermal gasification-based pilot scale 24 tonne per day waste to energy plant has achieved full generation capacity,” NTPC said in a statement.

Union Power Minister, RK Singh on Wednesday said “The power sector is witnessing an increased demand which is further expected to go up in the near future. The current consumption of 1200 units per capita is expected to grow 2-3 times at par with the international consumption after each and every individual of the country has access to electricity.”

State-run power generation company NTPC has threatened to curtail power supply to Jammu & Kashmir from February 19 unless the state’s power development department clears dues that have shot up to almost Rs 2,000 crore. Of the total outstanding dues, as much Rs 1,626 crore has been pending for more than 60 days.

As per the regulation notice sent to the electricity distribution company (discom) by NTPC, some of the bills for which payments have not been made were issued as early as February 2018.
