Although it has only 120 acres under cultivation, the vineyard's numerous varieties (some unfiltered and containing no sulfites) include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Claret, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir. The company was founded on one square mile of land by Peter and Su Hua Newton in 1977. Newton Vineyard has been part of a family of wines marketed by Verve Clicquot Ponsardin, a subsidiary of LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton, since 2001.

Pahlmeyer produces chardonnay, merlot, and some proprietary blends from grapes grown on several California vineyards. Pahlmeyer also operates its own vineyard near Napa, California. The 220-acre ranch supports 100 acres of vineyards. Pahlmeyer was founded by Jason Pahlmeyer who sold his first vintage in 1986.
