makes optical components, modules, and subsystems used in
the telecommunications, industrial, medical, defense, and
test and measurement industries. Covega's intensity
modulators, laser diode controllers, optical amplifiers, and
semiconductor lasers are incorporated into equipment such as
Internet routers and network test equipment. Its products
are sold through distributors, including Mitsui and
Laser2000.Thorlabs Quantum Electronics company was acquired
in 2008 by Fremont, California-based Gemfire Corporation and
again in 2009 by Thorlabs Inc. of Newton, New Jersey. Covega
was formed in 2003 by the merger of CODEON Corporation and
Quantum Photonics.
