China Resources Enterprise is ditching oil for beer. Having divested its petroleum distribution business in mid-2007, the group is now focused on becoming the largest consumer company in mainland China and Hong Kong, with a focus on retail, food and beverage, and textiles. Its holdings include supermarket and convenience store retail, fashion and arts and crafts retail, food processing, brewery, textile manufacturing, and property investment operations. Its more than 2,400 supermarkets and franchised stores operate under such brands as vanguard, Suguo, and Vango. Holding company China Resources National Corporation owns more than half of China Resources Enterprise.
