The company provides water, wastewater, and recycled water utility services to 14 utilities and more than 60,000 people in its service area around Phoenix. Its recycled water is treated and purified wastewater used for non-potable and outdoor purposes, sent through a separate system of pipes than drinking water. GWRI says its reclaimed water project saves up to 40% of drought-prone Arizona's scarce groundwater. The utility also extends water and wastewater infrastructure financing to regional developers and builders. The company was formed in 2003. Once privately held, GWRI went public in an IPO in late 2010.

The company's offerings include adsorbents, industrial air and gas filters, ion exchange resins, liquid filter cartridges, and stainless steel filter membranes. Its production locations are in Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. Graver Technologies' products are used primarily in manufacturing processes. The company's customers include operators of power plants and companies in the chemical, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, along with makers of compressors, pumps, and turbines. Graver Technologies is a unit of the diversified Marmon Group of manufacturing companies.

In 2007 it became the first North American company to be listed on the Alternext (Euronext) Exchange in Paris. By 2008 the company had installed more than 400 systems in Canada, the US, and elsewhere.
