Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System
Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (a public hospital district) is Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, which opened in 1953 and has some 270 acute-care beds. The medical center includes a comprehensive cancer center, joint replacement clinic, regional heart and spine centers, and a women's and children's unit. Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System also operates the Summerville Harden Ranch, an 80-bed assisted living facility, and a network of outpatient care clinics. The system has collaborative relationships with other area care providers, as well as a partnership with NASA that allows earthbound physicians to assist astronauts with medical emergencies in space.
