Lawrence & Memorial Hospital connects Connecticut residents with health care, no matter if they're near the Rhode Island border or enjoying the Connecticut River. The not-for-profit hospital, founded in 1912, provides services to a ten-town region on the Connecticut shoreline and neighboring areas in the Northeast. Lawrence & Memorial has 280 beds and provides general acute care, including medical, surgical, rehabilitative, pediatric, psychiatric, and obstetrical services. It also houses the Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital, a 160-bed pediatric facility located on the same campus, and the area Life Flight Network, which is owned by a consortium of local hospitals.

Lester E. Cox Medical Centers, dba Cox Health, provides myriad medical services to people in some 25 counties in southwestern Missouri and northern Arkansas. Cox Health's network includes four acute care hospitals with some 770 beds and more than 60 clinics. Centers for cardiac care, cancer treatment, orthopedics, mental health, and women's health are among Cox Health's specialized care options. Other operations include an ambulance service offering both ground and air transportation, the Cox Health Systems HMO, and the Oxford HealthCare home health company.

Lewistown may have been named after a Quaker, but Lewistown Hospital has no qualms about using the latest technology to care for its patients. The acute-care, rural hospital has a great dependency on its small physician staff, causing it to be particularly vulnerable to physician turnover. As a result, the hospital included an aggressive physician recruitment plan in its 2007-2011 business plan which includes making the latest health information technology available to new recruits. Family Health Associates, the hospital's affiliated group of 21 physicians, offer a range of specialties from pediatrics to pulmonary medicine to the 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties.
