Providence Hospital and Medical Centers

Providence Hospital and Medical Centers provides health care in the Motor City and surrounding areas. The main Providence Hospital is a 460-bed teaching facility that has been recognized for its cardiology program and offers a variety of other services ranging from cancer treatment and neurosurgery to orthopedics and women's health. The network also includes dozens of affiliated general practice and specialty health clinics. A part of Catholic health ministry St. John Health (a subsidiary of Ascension Health), the not-for-profit medical center was founded in 1845 as St. Vincent's Hospital in Detroit by the Daughters of Charity.
