Transamerican Technologies International wants to put the focus on the medical examining room. The company, also known as TTI Medical, makes video and digital camera adaptors for surgical microscopes and endoscopes. It also makes suction and irrigation tubes for minimally invasive surgery, as well as handpieces, micromanipulators, and other accessories for laser surgery. The TTI Imaging product line includes image capturing equipment and related software. Products are sold to hospitals and other health care providers in North America and internationally, primarily under the ACCU-Beam and ACCU-Surg names. Transamerican Technologies International was founded in 1984.

TransMedics works to transport transplants. The company has developed a system to circulate warm blood through hearts and other transplant organs while they are being transported, as opposed to the cold transport system currently in use. The portable device makes it possible to actually deliver a beating heart to the surgeon. TransMedics' Organ Care System (OCS) is already in use in the European Union for heart transplants; it must still complete clinical trials in the US to receive FDA approval. A system for lungs, livers, and kidneys is also in the works. TransMedics was formed in 1998.

The Triad Group plus one might be a better name for this health care product and packaging manufacturer. The company has four divisions: Its Triad Disposables unit makes and sells Triad-brand antiseptics, wipes, scrubs, and patient care products, while the Triad Pharmaceuticals division makes private-label branded disinfectant and surface wipes, antibacterial towelettes, topical creams, and other medical products. Triad Plus makes alcohol and iodine swabsticks, prep pads, and ointments for medical kits and trays made by third-party manufacturers, while Triad Contract Manufacturing provides third-party pharmaceutical blending, production, and packaging services for drugmakers.

Trimedyne's cold-pulsed lasers and fiber-optic laser energy delivery devices (including needles and fibers) are used in gastrointestinal, orthopedic, urologic, and general surgeries, as well as gynecology, arthroscopy, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedures. Trimedyne markets its products to hospitals and surgery centers in the US via direct sales and internationally through distributors. The company's Mobile Surgical Technologies unit rents lasers and provides related services to health care facilities on a "fee per use" basis.

United American Healthcare (UAHC) is switching gears -- from managed care to medical device manufacturing services. Previously, the company operated the UAHC Health Plan of Tennessee, a managed care company whose network covered some 900 physicians and 20 hospitals. However, when its contract to serve Medicaid recipients in western Tennessee was not renewed in 2009, the company went seeking alternatives. It cast its future with the 2010 purchase of California-base Pulse Systems which provides contract manufacturing services to medical device makers. More specifically, Pulse Systems provides laser-cutting capabilities and other processing technology for cardiovascular devices.
