Kips Bay Medical makes medical devices that help veins do their jobs in patients with coronary artery disease. The development-stage company is focused on developing and commercializing a vein support device called eSVS MESH, a mesh sleeve implanted by surgeons in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) that, when placed over a patient's vein graft, improves the graft's structure and long-term performance. It is designed to mimic the artery's job of constricting the vein and preventing harmful vessel expansion. Konica Minolta Medical Imaging U.S.A. Inc, a North American affiliate of Konica Minolta's medical and graphic imaging business unit, makes digital and traditional imaging products for diagnostic use by hospitals, imaging centers, private physicians, and veterinary clinics. Its products include computed radiography, digital radiography, and mammography imaging systems, as well as laser image printers and film processors. Customers have includes CHRISTUS Health, Tenet Healthcare, and Universal Health Services. The company sells products throughout the US, Canada, and Latin America.

Lakeland makes protective clothing for on-the-job hazards;. It uses DuPont specialty fabrics, such as Kevlar, TyChem, and Tyvek, as well as its own fabrics, to make industrial disposable garments, toxic-waste cleanup suits, fire- and heat-resistant apparel (including Fyrepel turnout gear for firefighters), industrial work gloves, high-visibility garments, and industrial/medical garments. Lakeland manufactures its products in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and the US. Customers -- about 35% are outside the US -- include high tech electronics manufacturers, construction companies, hospitals, and laboratories.

LaserSight has an eye for vision care. The company's LaserSight Technologies subsidiary makes excimer lasers, which surgically correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LaserSight's LaserScan LSX system is approved by the FDA for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser-in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) vision correction procedures. The company also sells ophthalmic equipment including forceps, scissors, and needle holders. Subsidiary TechnicaLaser sells laser products for industrial, laboratory, and other applications. LaserSight has facilities in China and the US and markets its products in more than 30 countries worldwide.

LecTec Corporation licenses topical patches that deliver over-the-counter drugs through the skin. Its patents, used by pharmaceutical companies, include adhesive patches, wound dressings, and inhalation therapies. LecTec formerly made its products, but ceased manufacturing a few years ago and is now an intellectual property licensing and holding company. LecTec licenses its technology to Novartis for that company's Triaminic Vapor Patch, a cough suppressant for adults and children. LecTec is pursuing additional licensing agreements with Novartis, as well as seeking other licensing partners. It's also looking to expand its product portfolio through research and development opportunities.
