Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co. which invented the saltine cracker in 1949, was founded by German immigrant Paul Schulze, Sr., in 1896. Schulze and Burch Biscuit company makes and markets toaster pastries under its Toast'em Pop-ups brand, as well as for private- and branded-label customers. It also makes Snackin' Fruits pastry bars, and it offers contract manufacturing for such food items as cereal bars, granola bars, breakfast cereal, crackers, and fruit snacks for other food companies. Schulze and Burch Biscuit operates two manufacturing facilities in the Chicago area.
