Air Philippines is setting its course to become the low-cost airline of choice for Asia. The carrier, an affiliate of national flag carrier Philippines Airlines, offers scheduled and charter services with about 20 destinations throughout the Philippines, as well as in South Korea and China. With a fleet of more than 210 aircraft, ANA flies on about 130 routes in Japan and about 40 to destinations overseas. It extends its network through code-sharing, primarily with fellow members of the Star Alliance, an airline marketing partnership that includes such carriers as United Airlines and Lufthansa. (Code-sharing enables airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus serve more destinations.) Besides passenger service, ANA's air transportation operations include cargo and mail hauling and aircraft maintenance and ground support. The company also sells travel packages and operates hotels.

The company, through its principal subsidiary, American Airlines, Inc., provides scheduled jet service to approximately 150 destinations throughout North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. American Airlines also operates as a scheduled air freight carrier, providing a range of freight and mail services to shippers. AMR Corporation, through its subsidiary, AMR Eagle Holding Corporation, owns and operates two regional airlines, providing connecting service from nine of American's high-traffic cities to smaller markets throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean under the name American Eagle. The company serves 250 cities in 40 countries with approximately 3,400 daily flights. As of December 31, 2008, AMR Corporation owned and leased aircrafts in operation included 626 American Airlines Aircrafts and 266 AMR Eagle Aircrafts. The company was founded in 1934 and is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
