All Nippon Airways (ANA) is one of Japan's leading carriers, along with Japan Airlines. With a fleet of more than 210 aircraft, ANA flies on about 130 routes in Japan and about 40 to destinations overseas. It extends its network through code-sharing, primarily with fellow members of the Star Alliance, an airline marketing partnership that includes such carriers as United Airlines and Lufthansa. American Airlines also operates as a scheduled air freight carrier, providing a range of freight and mail services to shippers. AMR Corporation, through its subsidiary, AMR Eagle Holding Corporation, owns and operates two regional airlines, providing connecting service from nine of American's high-traffic cities to smaller markets throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean under the name American Eagle. The company serves 250 cities in 40 countries with approximately 3,400 daily flights. As of December 31, 2008, AMR Corporation owned and leased aircrafts in operation included 626 American Airlines Aircrafts and 266 AMR Eagle Aircrafts. The company was founded in 1934 and is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
