Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority
Politicians might dominate the airwaves in Washington, DC, but the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority rules the airways, or at least the runways. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority operates Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National airports, the primary airports serving the nation's capital. The airports generate revenue from aircraft landing fees, concessions, and space rental. A public agency, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority was created in 1987 by the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia with the consent of the US Congress.
