The National Trust
The National Trust is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and historic properties in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The National Trust owns and manages more than 620,000 acres of land, plus about 700 miles of coastline. The National Trust also raises funds by renting out selected properties for weddings, conferences, vacations, and film shoots. The National Trust protect and open to the public more than 300 historic houses and garden and about 50 industrial monuments and mills. Established in 1895, The National Trust has grown to include some 3.5 million subscribing members and some 43,000 volunteers.
