National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church
The National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) provides health and social services to abused or neglected children, disabled individuals, and the elderly. The not-for-profit and its Disciples Benevolent Services unit offer residential programs, day care centers, counseling services, and other programs to about 20,000 people annually. National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church boasts facilities in Alabama, California, and Missouri after a Chapter 11 restructuring spurred it to shutter its nursing homes. NBA was founded in 1887 by a women's prayer circle to "extend the hand of Christ to those who cannot care for themselves."
