Other programs provide mental treatment, nutrition education, dental care, and developmental screening. Singer and songwriter Paul Simon and doctor Irwin Redlener founded the Children's Health Fund in 1987.

The Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) may seem at cross purposes but it helps the poor on both ends of the age spectrum. The lay Catholic not-for-profit organization works in about two dozen countries in Africa, Asia, The Americas and Caribbean. CFCA provides services for children and the elderly in areas such as education, medical care, clothing, and nutrition. Christian Foundation for Children and Aging sets up relationships between more than 270,000 sponsors in the US and about 310,000 who need assistance in countries like Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Tanzania, and Uganda. CFCA was founded in 1981 by a group of missionaries including its president Bob Hentzen.

City Harvest is a not-for-profit organization that delivers food to about 600 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and community food programs in New York. City Harvest Inc. distributes more than 25 million pounds of excess food each year, feeding some 260,000 men, women, and children each week.
