John Swan & Sons operates livestock auction and marketing centers in St. Boswells and Wooler through its subsidiary John Swan Limited. Its St. Boswells livestock center can accommodate about 20,000 sheep and 5,000 cattle and has five selling rings. The auctioneering company offers a range of other specialists services, including estate agency, livestock quota trading, liquidation and insolvency sales, displenishing sales of businesses, fine art sales, house clearances, and valuation work. The company got its start in 1856 when John Swan and his sons began marketing livestock.
