Centaur Technology's processors is a breed apart. An independent subsidiary and design house of chipset stalwart VIA Technologies, Centaur makes low-cost microprocessors for use in mobile PCs and other portable electronics. Centaur Technology company designed VIA's C7-M processor, one of the world's smallest, lowest-power, and most secure x86-architecture processors. Centaur was established in Austin, Texas, in 1995 and prides itself on its employee-friendly work environment with free breakfasts and lunches and an onsite fitness facility. VIA purchased Centaur in 1999. Centaur Technology company has no management hierarchy, save for founder and president Glenn Henry.
