ChipWrights can't improve your golf game, but could improve your image. The fabless semiconductor company develops visual signal processors (ViSPs), a type of digital signal processor designed for imaging applications. ViSPs are used in products such as cell phones, digital still cameras, printers, and video editing systems. ChipWrights outsources manufacturing of its chips, and also licenses its designs. The company was founded in 2000 by Brian Fitzgerald (former CEO), John Redford (CTO), and other executives of the company. ChipWrights Design's investors included Axiom Venture Partners, BancBoston Ventures, and Rock Maple Ventures. AD Group of the UK acquired the company's assets and business in 2005.
