Thayar Dairy Products

In 1975 because of Mr. M.K. Ramanathan Iyer's ill health the business of Thayar Dairy was leased to Mr. M. Sundaram Chettiar to run with his own capital and funds and to maintain the good will reputation earned by his predecessor. The lease was further renewed in 1981 and 1984. In those days the customers used to bring a separate vessel with hard bottom to purchase Butter and those vessels were not meant to be used for any other purpose. That system was though offered with some benefits as well, like, if we buy 1kg of Butter 760gms of Ghee will be procured later. In 1970's then the Butter was being packed in Banana leaf that gives a special fragrance to Butter while melting to Ghee and the quality and quantity were tend to be known. Nowadays people buy Butter and Coffee Powders sold in a petty provision shops, which lead to the degrading of quality generally.Later, Mr. M. Sundaram, with the help of his wife S. Valliammai start preparing all the Masala Powders and Instant Rice Mix Powders by roasting on her own and both of them worked dedicatedly for the improvement of the business, which flourished well and got a good will and reputation among the general public as the items sold were fresh , unbeaten quality and a feel of homemade.
