BCCI appoints Bharat Arun as Team India bowling coach, Sanjay Bangar gets role of assistant coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday appointed Bharat Arun as the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. Sanjay Bangar, meanwhile, has been given the role of assistant coach. Both appointments will stand till the 2019 ICC World Cup. Zaheer Khan will remain a consultant for Team India's bowling unit.
It has been learnt that Zaheer is unlikely to give around 250 days a year that a full-time bowling coach will be required to and may not be available for more than 100 days. It may also be mentioned that Zaheer's salary package has not yet been inked as negotiations are still on.
Earlier, when head coach Ravi Shastri was asked about his choice of bowling coach, he had said Arun but one particular member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) was against it. Shastri then apparently said that : "Give me Jason Gillespie then". Gillespie is widely acknowledged as the best bowling coach in the cricketing fraternity.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Friday that the state government has undertaken a multi-pronged plan for the development of tourism in Tripura. He said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 692 crore has been signed by the Tripura Tourism Department for the construction of ropeways.
Dr Saha made this announcement while addressing the World Tourism Day 2024 programme and felicitation of the unsung heroes of the recent floods in Tripura at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan.

A petition has been filed in the High Court of Karnataka, seeking a CBI probe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam.
Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna on Friday said that they have filed a writ petition and are seeking High Court directions to handover the case to the CBI to carry out a fair investigation in the writ petition.

About 12 textile companies are set to receive the first set of incentive payment under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
“Around 40 companies have grounded investment. We had a gestation period till March 2024.We hopethis financial year 10-12 companies will be getting incentive payout (under PLI),” a senior government official said on Friday.

The Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday confirmed that Sunil Jakhar continues to lead the party in the state, calling rumours of his resignation "totally baseless". Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin confirmed that Jakhar, 70, was leading the party.
The BJP’s reaction followed hours after media reports claimed that Jakhar had reportedly resigned. The news had particularly raised eyebrows in view of the upcoming panchayat elections in the state scheduled for October 15.
