Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets over 21,000 bookings; might outsell Hyundai i20 in November
Maruti Suzuki Baleno has got off to a flying start with over 21,000 bookings within 15 days of its launch, confirms the Indo-Japanese carmaker. Launched on 26th October 2015, the company sold a total of 4,229 units in just 5 days of its launch. Its rival Honda Jazz, the second best-selling premium hatchback as of now, could manage to maintain a lead of mere 267 units in October despite being on sale for the entire month. Honda sold 4,496 units of the Jazz in the festive month.
The Hyundai i20, however, remained the top-selling car in the segment with a total sales of 11,019 in the month. But with over 21,000 bookings already and 20 more days left in the month, there is a high possibility of the Baleno outselling the i20 in November 2015 sales.
Launched at an introductory price range of Rs 4.99 lakh – Rs 8.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the most loaded car in its league with safety features such as dual airbag, anti-locking braking system (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) offered across all variants including the base petrol. While the top-of-the-line trim comes with advanced features such as Apple CarPlay with touchscreen, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, reverse parking camera, voice command, navigation system, etc.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with two engine options – a 1.2-litre K-series petrol (83bhp, 115Nm) and a 1.3-litre DDiS 190 diesel (74bhp, 190Nm) – both of which also power the Swift. Though with almost 100kg less weight than the Swift, the Baleno is a more fun-to-drive vehicle with better power-to-weight ratio. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
