IRCTC offers discount on train tickets: Here are details you should know
The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Limited (IRCTC) has offering discounts on train tickets. IRCTC is offering attractive discounts on ticket booking through its official website www.irctc.co.in. However, passengers should know that they can't avail the discounts via offline mode.

If a passenger makes a booking via MobiKwik, the company will offer you a 10 per cent discount. Another app, Paytm is also offering a cashback of Rs 100 on ticket bookings through its platform.
Flipkart's PhonePe is also offering a cashback of Rs 100. Below is the stepwise guide on how you can avail the offer:
Go to the IRCTC's official or login to its mobile app
Log in using your username and password.
Fill in your travel details.Now, while choosing the the payment mode, choose the e-wallet options.
In wallet category, choose whichever app you would use to make payments and get discounts on your tickets.
Meanwhile, he Indian Railways have discontinued providing free travel insurance to its passengers starting September 1. The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in a bid to promote digital transaction, had been giving free travel insurance to passengers since demonetisation.
Now, if passengers want to avail it, then they will have to shell out 68 paise premium as insurance. The insurance can be availed by only those who book tickets online. They, however, will be given two options, either to opt-in or opt-out.
Those booking tickets traditionally through computerized passenger reservation system (PRS) will not be able to opt for the facility.
IRCTC had sent emails to users about the same on Friday.
"Users who would like to opt for Passenger Travel Insurance will need to click a 'Yes' option provided for Travel Insurance in Passenger Reservation Form. All passengers with age of 5 years and above will be eligible for Travel Insurance," reads the email.
"The scheme is applicable to Indians. The premium is non-refundable," said a railway official.
The IRCTC insurance had a maximum cover of Rs10 lakh if a person died during the travel, Rs 7.5 lakh if a person becomes disabled in case of an accident, Rs 2 lakh if injured and Rs 10,000 for transportation of mortal remains. Sources said that before demonetisation, the railways were charging 60 paise.
