After coming close to hitting $1 billion, Amazon's international losses have fallen for the third consecutive quarter as operating margins in markets such as Europe and Japan grew, offsetting losses the company continues to make in India.

Amazon reported a loss of $494 million on sales of $14.6 billion from international markets (outside North America) for the three months that ended June 2018.

E-commerce major Amazon has pumped in Rs 230 crore in its Indian payments arm, Amazon Pay, as it looks to strengthen its operations in the country and compete head-on with the likes of Flipkart’s PhonePe and Alibaba-backed Paytm. According to documents filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Amazon Pay (India) has allotted 23 crore equity shares worth Rs 230 crore to existing shareholders — Amazon Corporate Holdings and Amazon.com.incs — on right basis.

Amazon has announced a 36-hour long Prime Day sale on July 16. The sale will go live on July 16 noon simultaneously in 17 nations till July 17 midnight. This year Amazon will introduce around 200 exclusive products on its website.

Amazon Prime Day is scheduled to begin on July 16 at 12 noon. This is the second edition of the sale in India and it aligns with the Prime Day sales across other countries. With just three days to go, Amazon has now revealed the offers and discounts on the smartphones during the Prime Day sale. Besides smartphones, the sale will see huge discounts on other products such as home appliances, smart devices, clothing, home interiors, and more.

With as many as 67 fulfilment centres (FC) across 13 states in India, and a storage capacity of over 20 million cubic feet, Amazon India says it is now has the largest warehousing capacity among all e-commerce firms in the country.

That apart, the company has created a whole new wing of forward logistics providers, which basically are small-format warehouses within a city for two-hour express deliveries. Amazon now has 17,500 such 'I Have Space' stores across 225 cities and 350 service partners in 320 cities.
