Maruti Suzuki India sold total of 1,17,864 vehicles in August 2015, a growth of 6.4 per cent. This includes 1,06,781 units in the domestic market and 11,083 units in exports.

The company had sold a total of 1,10,776 units in August 2014.

Honda Cars, the country’s fourth largest passenger vehicle maker, will announce a price increase this week for most of its products. It will follow the top two in the segment, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, which announced a price rise earlier this month.

It is likely to be a rise of one to two per cent. “The main driver is an increase in costs. The weakening rupee is also a factor. We are evaluating the increase that is required”, said Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president (marketing & sales) at Honda Cars India.

Eyeing a higher share of the domestic passenger vehicle market, India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, is further expanding its sales network. The Delhi-headquartered company, which already has the widest sales network in the country, added 50 outlets in the quarter ended June 30, 2015.

With the expansion, the number of Maruti sales outlets has increased to 1,670, covering 1,336 cities and towns. Notably, 90 per cent of the expansion has been done in areas where Maruti did not have presence earlier.

New Delhi: Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India has hiked prices of all its products by up to Rs9,000, except that of newly launched premium crossover S-Cross, citing changes in dealer margin.

The average hike in the ex-showroom prices, with effect from 11 August, across models ranges from Rs3,000 to Rs9,000, a Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) spokesperson said.

Maruti Suzuki is set to relaunch the diesel variant of its Ciaz sedan in the second half of this month. The facelifted sedan will come with additional features and is based on a hybrid technology. It will use kinetic energy from rolling wheels to charge the battery and offer better mileage.

This is Maruti’s first experiment with hybrid technology. The relaunch is happening about 10 months after launch of the Ciaz last October. Maruti dispatched only 2,099 cars in the domestic market last month. Maruti has been selling about 4,000 Ciaz sedans to dealers a month, with sales crossing 6,000 in a couple of months.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is once again the company that sells every second passenger vehicle in the country, according to data provided by lobby group Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

In July, the company sold 50% of the passenger vehicles in the country. Its sales were up 22.55% year-on-year to 110,000 units, while sales in the industry rose 11.43% to 222,000.

The company, which will have a new manufacturing plant in Gujarat where its parent Suzuki Motor Corp will invest, said the Centre alone cannot realise the dream of the country becoming a global manufacturing hub and states would have to play an important role.
