The facilities of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, are running at near-full capacity, thanks to the strong demand for commercial vehicles due to rising infrastructure activity and delivery of e-commerce shipments by leaders like Flipkart and Amazon. To address this, the company is planning to expand capacity in the coming fiscal.

Volvo Cars has launched its first ever three-cylinder Drive-E engine in the XC40, which is the smallest SUV on offer from the Swedish brand. The new engine was developed in-house based on the modular design of Volvo's four-cylinder Drive-E engines. The new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, direct-injection petrol engine with a T3 badge will be paired with a six-speed transmission with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission that will follow next year.

Volvo’s V60 was scheduled to make its global debut on the 21st of February 2018, but only a few hours after Volvo published the first teaser images for the V60. The internet produced some pretty revealing images of Volvo all new wagon. First published by a website AutoMotoSvijet magazine from Bosnia and Herzegovnia, before promptly coming down. These images seem to indicate the next generation of Volvo’s V60 station wagon. A closer look at the images which shows the car in side profile, shows a V60 that is almost as large as its larger sibling the V90.

According to company officials, VECV is currently hitting 7,000 units per month which is its peak capacity. If this demand trend continues, the company will start scouting for a new plant next financial year.

Completing 20 years of its operations in the country, Volvo Group in India on Wednesday said it is looking at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10 % to 15 % over the next seven to ten years.

“The last two years have been phenomenal for us; we have grown by 40 % in our top line and also in rofits, which is very good,” Volvo Group India Pvt Ltd President and MD Kamal Bali said.

Activist investor Cevian Capital has agreed to sell its 8.2 per cent stake in Swedish truck maker AB Volvo to China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Cevian and Geely announced in a joint statement on Wednesday.

They did not disclose the value of the transaction, which makes Geely Volvo's largest owner by capital and the second biggest by voting rights after investment firm Industrivarden.

“We must follow the same strategy in India and if we would want to be the leaders here when it comes to electrification, then we have to be the first in line,” said Charles Frump, managing director of Volvo Auto India Pvt. Ltd.

Stockholm: Sweden’s AB Volvo reported a bigger-than-expected rise in quarterly core earnings on Friday, as a broad upturn in demand for heavy trucks more than offset costs stemming from a strained supply chain.

Sweden’s biggest manufacturer by sales also raised its outlook for truck markets on both sides of the North Atlantic this year and forecast a further strong recovery in industry-wide sales of commercial vehicles in North America in 2018.
