When mothers intone "eat your veggies," it's music to the ears of Harris Moran. Harris Moran Seed Company, a unit of French seed giant cooperative Groupe Limagrain, serves up an array of vegetable seeds for markets in about 65 countries. The company's seeds are destined for fresh-food and processed-food end uses. With operations in the US and Mexico, the company researches, breeds, and wholesales seeds for such mom-pleasers as beans, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, corn, lettuce, melons, peppers, pumpkins, squash, and tomatoes. Harris Moran, which was acquired by Limagrain in 1996, traces its roots back more than 140 years. In 2010 the company acquired Mesa Maize, a sweet corn company in Olathe, Colorado.
