Just as Turkey helps form a bridge between Europe and Asia, Turkish Airlines makes connections between Turkey and the rest of the world. Including its domestic operations, the carrier flies to about 140 destinations, largely in Europe, but also in the Asia/Pacific region, the Middle East, and North America. It operates a fleet of more than 100 jets. To extend its international network, Turkish Airlines joined the Star Alliance, a global airline marketing group that includes carriers such as Lufthansa and United. Besides passenger operations, which account for most of its sales, Turkish Airlines offers cargo and aircraft maintenance services. The government of Turkey owns a controlling stake in the company.
