Cooperation is a refined art and refining a cooperative art for the National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA), which provides three farm supply cooperatives (CHS, GROWMARK, and MFA Oil) with fuel through its oil refinery in Kansas. The refinery's production rate is 81,460 barrels per day. Fuel from the refinery is allocated to member/owners on the basis of ownership percentages. In addition to the refinery, NCRA owns Jayhawk Pipeline, minority interests in two other pipeline companies, and an underground oil storage facility. CHS owns 74% of the cooperative, GROWMARK, 19%, and MFA, 7%.

The Navajo Refinery has a crude oil capacity of 100,000 BPSD and has the ability to process heavy,sour and light crude oils into high value light products such as gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel. The Navajo Refinery converts approximately 92% of its raw materials throughput into high value light products. For 2009, gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel (excluding volumes purchased for resale) represented 58%, 32% and 2%, respectively, of the Navajo Refinery's sales volumes. Refined petroleum products spring from Navajo Refining Company's 85,000 barrels-per-day crude oil refinery, located in Artesia, New Mexico. Navajo Refining's main refinery operations are located on a 561 acre site. The integrated refinery has crude distillation, vacuum distillation, fluid catalytic cracking catalytic reforming, isomerization, sulfur recovery, and other units. The company has other supporting infrastructure at the Artesia site, including 2 million barrels of feedstock and product tankage, maintenance shops, office buildings, and warehouses. Navajo Refining is a subsidiary of Holly Corporation.

Neste Oil Corporation is a refining and marketing company concentrating on low-emission, high-quality traffic fuels. The company's strategy is based on growing both its oil refining and premium-quality renewable diesel businesses. Neste Oil's refineries are located in Porvoo and Naantali and have a combined crude oil refining capacity of approx. 260,000 barrels a day. Neste Oil goes for the black gold in Finland. The state-controlled firm focuses on refining, marketing, and shipping oil products, including gasoline, biodiesel fuel, and lubricants. Neste Oil primarily sells its products domestically, but also exports to customers in North America and Europe. It operates about 890 gas stations in Finland, and almost 290 outside the country (in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Northwest Russia). The company also has a biodiesel plant, as well as a diesel production line. The Finnish government owns more than 50% of Neste Oil, which was founded shortly after World War II to ensure a steady oil supply for the country.
