Teknos wants to color your world. The company makes a wide range of high-quality paints and industrial coatings used in the consumer, construction, industrial, and manufacturing sectors. Its products include retail and architectural paints, metal paints and coatings, powder coatings, wood paints and coatings, and coil coatings. Teknos' paints and coatings are used to paint cars, bridges and steel structures, industrial equipment, plywood, and road markings. Its powder coatings, which are durable and environmentally friendly, are used to paint appliances, shelving, garden furniture, and bicycles. Founded in 1948 and still one of Finland's largest family-owned businesses, Teknos operates in Europe and Russia.

Left to its own devices, Tessenderlo Chemie tends to make a lot of chemicals for niche markets. The diversified producer operates through three units. It's Chemicals division offers a variety of inorganic chemicals including phosphates for animal feed and potassium sulphate; organic chlorine derivatives and caustic soda; and PVC. The company's Specialities unit supplies gelatin and organic intermediates for pharmaceuticals. Tessenderlo's Plastics Converting division takes PVC and converts it into finished goods such as plastic pipes and fittings. It operates in the US through Tessenderlo Kerley. The French chemicals group SNPE owns more than a quarter of the Belgian company.

Through its subsidiaries, Thai Rubber Latex Corporation makes latex concentrate, as well as various finished products made from that concentrate. More than half of the company's revenue is derived from its manufacturing of latex concentrate, the major raw material used in the manufacture of rubber and latex products including gloves, condoms, and rubber thread. The company also manufactures latex gloves and rubber thread from its majority-owned subsidiaries Universal Latex Products and World Flex. Thai rubber Latex operates nine manufacturing facilities.

The Comex Group keeps adding colors to its palette. The company manufactures and distributes architectural paints and coatings through five regional operations/brands (Color Wheel, Frazee, General Paint, Parker Paint, and Kwal), and Duckback, a specialty coatings division. It sells its products mainly in the western US -- though it added Florida to its territory with the 2006 acquisition of Color Wheel -- and western Canada. Each brand formulates its products especially for the climate in its home region. The company comprises the US and Canadian operations of Mexico's largest paints maker, Comex.

In 1908, Morris Brown, an immigrant from Russia, began his daily trip via horse-drawn cart from Bremen, Indiana, to South Bend, Indiana. Morris, and his family, would bring eggs and other farm produce from Bremen to South Bend to trade for other goods not available in his small farming town. One day, while on the road to South Bend, a man asked Morris if he cared to trade produce for peppermint oil. Morris wasn't aware of its value, but was always looking for an opportunity, so he decided to gamble. Morris, and his sons, took the peppermint oil into South Bend and soon realized they could earn more money trading peppermint than eggs and other farm produce, Morris, and his sons, knew this was a business he would develop, and he founded a company named M. Brown & Sons dedicated to selling the finest essential oils available. The Browns worked long hours and very hard so they could support their families and provide integrity and service to their customers.In 1974, Morris Brown's grandson, Irvin Brown, expanded the business by selling herbs, spices, and decorative botanicals.
