Australian Postal Corporation
Australian Postal Corporation delivers the mail, from Western Australia to New South Wales and from Queensland to Victoria. The government-owned company, known as Australia Post, operates about 3,000 post offices and serves about 10 million delivery points in Australia. Australia Post handles more than 5 billion pieces of mail per year and also sells mail-related products and offers financial services such as bill payment and money transfer. Through a joint venture with airline Qantas, the company owns Australian Air Express, a cargo carrier for Australia. The roots of Australian Postal Corporation go back to 1809 when a former convict was named the country's first postmaster.
