SmithGroup Companies, Inc.
SmithGroup is the oldest continuously practicing architectural and engineering firm in the US. Founded in 1853 in Detroit by architect Sheldon Smith, the firm partnered with engineers in 1907 to become one of the first multidisciplinary firms in the country. Formerly known as Smith, Hinchman & Gryllis, it influenced the skyline of Detroit with structures like the Guardian, Penobscot, and Buhl buildings. These days the group offers architecture engineering, interiors planning, and consulting services and has about a dozen offices across the US. It targets the office, research, education, health care, technologies, and cities and communities markets.
