North American Technologies Group (NATK) made ties that bind. Its TieTek Technologies subsidiary produced composite railroad crossties made from 75% recycled materials such as plastics and rubber from old tires. It has sold its products to various transportation agencies and railway companies in the US, Australia, Asia, South America, and India. However, due to the recession, the company closed its plants and ceased production of its ties in 2009.
