TimberWest Forest Corp.
TimberWest attempts to stay a cut above the rest. The forestland management company owns more than 320,000 hectares (796,000 acres) of forest in western Canada, making it one of the largest owners of private forestlands in the region. The company has had an annual harvest of about 2.5 million cubic meters of logs. However, harvest levels have been reduced and about 17% of TimberWest's land has become more valuable than the Douglas firs growing on it. The company's real estate arm, Couverdon, plans to make available more of its real estate for development over then next 10 to 15 years.
